Philip Aitken and his son Martin started the business in 1972. Prior to this, Martin spent six months learning the craft with Ivan Crowell, the pioneer pewterer in these parts. Philip, originally from England, had worked for twenty-five years in various Canadian engineering offices. Martin's energy and enthusiasm and Philip's judgment and experience were the ingredients that resulted in a successful partnership.
